CARPET DYEING KITS how to and history.
For best results use Carpet dyeing experts carpet colourfix stix on bleach marks and spots that are even coloured. Such areas as sun fading patches on carpets. Not originally intended to this but, carpet colourfix stix can be used on carpet stains. A couple of smart carpet cleaners told us they had great success with covering medium to light stains. Our customers report having quite good stain coverage even on those darker than the carpets original color.
Number 1:
YOU should first get hold of a wet and dry vacuum OR water extraction carpet cleaner and rinse out any Bleach spots, marks or stains to be repaired. Also rinse the area surrounding the marks to give you a colour gauge to aim for. To rinse the carpet ONLY USE WATER... You must then remove the bleach by, neutralising it or your carpet may dissapear. Carpets do not need to be rinsed again before the application of the carpet colourfix stix.
Number 2:
Apply your chosen colours of the carpet colourfix stix range to carpets or rugs that are damp. As in the instructional video Use some white cloth or white paper to test out your colour matching skills and to get the best color match for your carpet color.
Number 3:
You will find blending is easier when you use a light coloured towel or soft brush, to help the blending of your dyes from the carpet colourfix stix. DO this by firmly but GENTLY brushing to blend and match original carpet color every few minutes. As professional colour restorers we always start near an edge as a test. Once your happy with your test area your can then venture out to near the middle and work over to one to the edge at a time.
We also start out with a light application slowly working to get your desired colour, matching close to BUT NOT darker than your carpet. People often have the biggest problems with applying way too much dye. Even our new colour restoration techs on the first day of training have this problem. Do NOT panic. To fix this minor problem simply clean the problem area and begin again.
Number 4:
So you may have made the spot worse or too dark... Simply grab your wet and dry vacuum OR water extraction carpet cleaner and rinse out until your happy then start over. YOU may need to wipe softly or rub the area with a cloth. Because we noticed this problem even with seasoned carpet dyers we specially designed the carpet colourfix stix with, time delay semi permanent application technology. This gives you a number of practice chances at getting your desired colour spot on or close as possible.
Number 5:
The colour of the stains or bleach spots will play a part in what colours are to be used so we included various tint colours browns are used for giving the aged appearance and to shade up other colors also for brown carpets.
Over the years since 1990 carpet cleaners told us they had great success with covering medium to light stains specially make up, orange and red or even pet stains. We find sometimes some stains are easy to cover. Stains such as wax that has not had the wax content fully taken out or if stains are very dark for example Navy. We as expert colour restorers have used fibre safe bleaches and do not advise anyone to even try bleaching out stains without our proper instruction and chemicals needed to safely perform this procedure. We advise against anyone not specifically trained in colour restoration to avoid bleach which has wrecked many carpets out there.
We all know from school those three primary colors that include yellow blue and red RIGHT?
Most 3rd graders know you can make all other colours combining the three primary colors. But that was, in the past a bit hard especially having to guess what you were doing, unless like me you have a great eye for colour. BECAUSE we are colour restoration experts we made this previously daunting task so simple your kids could do it.
Our expert team researched, designed manufactured a range of custom colors along the lines of the standard carpet colour range.
of warm, cool, and sand colors.Red is a warm color.Blue is a cool color.Yellow is a sand color. These terms are used in describing and considering colors in the brown family which include all creams, beiges, tans, taupes and browns.Grays are for the most part cool colors. However, some grays are warmer than others which would push them more towards the taupe colors. Most browns are warm colors.Yet, some browns are cooler than others pushing them also towards the taupe colors.Taupe can be described as a warm gray or cool brown color. Tans consist of colors which are mostly sand-medium to light shades of brown.Always think of your colors on terms of cool, warm and sand. These three directions will help guide your dyeing needs.Remember, if you have a bright yellow bleach spot, you already have too many sand colors to work with, so use your coolest colors such as grays to tone down the yellow.
Using Carpet dyeing experts carpet colourfix stix what you see is what you get. You do not have to wait for them to set. The dyes are the same as normal carpet dyes bought direct from one of ONLY three in the world. The dyes are made of minerals and
described in our carpet dye questions pages A MUST READ for carpet dye Customers.
Using carpet colourfix stix the process is much more simple than that of recolouring bleach spots the old fashoined way. What we found was the carpet dyes seemed to change colour but they were not. What was actually happening was the depth of shade changed as the water evaporated. Since being born into the colour restoration business and hence setting up our first carpet dyeing business in 1990 we have gained a great deal of knowledge.
Many items available can damage and discolor your carpets and upholstery. We also came upone the fact that an increasing number of people were having trouble with the old style kits because of the varying colour perception between people and not everyone has a good eye for colour. It just depends on what your comfortable with. Both of our systems are easy to use. So if you currently use our liquid dyes you have no risk of us abandoning their production.
Some uninformed or obviously uneducated people claim with liquid carpet dyes the following (Once you apply them and wait for the dye to dwell you may find that you have only made the problem worse.)
Carpet dyeing experts carpet colourfix stix are the solution for spot dyeing carpets and rugs. If you have used any of them unwisely or read any of our other information pages, you will have found many cleaning products and some stains even change the structure of the carpet fibers changing the way dye acts on the surface when the spot is dyed with ANY carpet dyes. Even if you painted the patch that same colour it would not stay the right colour on the altered carpet fibers.
