Never fall for the assumption: If it can be bleached it can be dyed
Q: Can you dye my coloured stains back to my carpet colour?
A: In many cases if the correct stain treatment has been applied and the stain remains the area may be fixed by redye after the stain is completely removed by bleaching it out. For this to work it is preferred that the affected area be white or in some cases pale cream. And it is equally important that the area be free of remnants of the offending stain as this will affect the result negatively.

Q: Why can't I just dye my Red stain back to the beige my carpet is?
A: Whether the stain be red, or any colour other than White, if it is a deeper or stronger colour or shade than the colour of the carpet, just dying it will not achive the result as dying is not like painting or rendering with concrete. Dyes blend with the other colours present and being the base of the mix is basically colourless and of very thin consistency, so it can penetrate in to the fibre, compared to covering it as paint does. To use it like paint would be fruitless.
We have found during our investigations over the years some of the Australian, carpet dyeing systems rely on a film based coating action. We have tested this and found these types of dyes only last, at best, three to twelve months before they start to severely ware off.

Q: What if the stain has been made by bleach?
A: This is a multi part answer.
First and most commonly, if bleach is the cause, more often than not it is not a stain, but a loss of colour caused by the colour stripping action of the cleaning agents that are bleach. Generally speaking it is able to be recoloured to the original or surrounding colour.
Second, as in the case of wool, the bleach may have made the spot go a brown or grey-brown. This is what is commonly known as alkaline burn and in many cases treatable. After successfully treating the burn the carpet will reveal the extent of colour stripping and, once again, generally speaking is able to be recoloured.
In some cases, the carpet itself will reject the dyes, but this is not entirely a loss as we have special treatments that can be put on to stop the bleaching action. This is more likely to work if you can tell us specifically what was put on the area and or what the bleaching agent was; eg. Oxalic, Phosphoric acids, Calcium Hypochlorite, Sodium Hypochlorite.

Q: My carpet lost it's colour, areas are faded or bleach marked. Can it be fixed without replacing the it?
A: It must be noted that even now days, not all carpets are able to have the colour put back into them. This is mainly due to how the manufacturer made them but sometimes it is because of the type of cleaners or bleaches used on them, or if they have been sealed with a protectant. With that said, generally speaking the answer to this question is a simple yes, provided it is dyeable.

Q: I would like to dye my whole carpet or at least one room can you do that?
A: As your choices are as important as you are, we have designed our system to not only bring your carpets to the one original colour, but if you so desire to change the colour we can do that too, providing your carpet agrees to it.
>>>
Q: How do I know if the carpet is Dyeable and what do I need to do to find this out?
A: There are a various ways to test this factor, but the best way to test is to have a full dye test performed by our colour restoration specialists on an actual sample of the carpet to be dyed, the right way. In the case of bleach spots this is actually done at the time of treatment. *Charges and conditions may apply*. As you don't want the bleach to errode the fibres away to nothing do you? Never fall for the assumption "if it can be bleached it can be dyed" it's just wrong.
>>>
Q: Do you have to dye test when you do a colour consultation if other companies say it's dyeable or not?
A: It must be noted that even now days, not all carpets are able to have the colour put back into them. This is mainly due to how the manufacturer made them but sometimes it is because of the type of cleaners or bleaches used on them, or if they have been sealed with a protectant. So simply put, yes we still have to test your carpet for the dyeability. As just as not all carpets are alike, not all dye systems are alike. Which means that even though one or more systems cannot do the job, one of the systems just may be able to.
In our experiences of not being the only to perform the test, measure and quote sequence, we have found around 98.3% of the carpets we test are dyable, reguardless of what the others have found with thier tests, because we take into account many factors aside from just whether or not the dye stuck to the carpet. And more over even if your carpet has tested only partially or lightly dyeable, due to our ethics we will not class it dyeable. We will explain the situation to you in terms you understand so you can retain control. However if we deem it not worth the expense on your part to go through with a dye job for any reason we will explain this to you as well.* *.
